Our enrichment activities refer to the various extracurricular activities that are offered at Acarath Montessori Center to supplement the core curriculum and provide additional learning opportunities for children. These activities are designed to foster creativity, independence, and a love of learning in children.
Enrichment Activities Include:
- Summer Learning: Kids won’t lose their edge & will stay sharp with our summer camp that continues with our high academic standards. For the summer months we do accept older children in our program (up to 8 years old). Fridays are special outings or an in-house event. Ratio 5:1
- Art: We offer art classes or art enrichment activities, where children can explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills. Children study a variety of techniques and learn about famous artists using different mediums. All activities are included in the fees and children attend each activity once a week for 45 minutes. Our group of 10 students has a qualified teacher and an assistant. Ratio 5:1
- Music: Music classes or music enrichment activities provide children with the opportunity to develop their musical abilities, learn about different instruments, and appreciate different types of music. Music class is taught in a small group setting. Children study the gamut of music from learning how to sing with a group, to different notes, chords etc. Our students learn a variety of rhythm instruments including drums, xylophone, glockenspiel, bells etc. Ratio 5:1
- Physical Education & Sports: Physical education classes or physical activity enrichment activities allow children to develop their gross motor skills, coordination, and physical fitness. Our sports skills class is an introduction to different sports. The main focus is to improve hand eye coordination through various activities such as mini basketball, bowling, tennis, kickball, parachute play. Ratio 5:1
- Gymnastics: Children will warm up with yoga or Pilates poses. Then they will move to working on tumbling moves using floor mats, a balance beam and the gymnastics barre. Children have gymnastics once a week for 45 minutes. Ratio 5:1
- Dance Class: Children warm up using Pilates or yoga poses and postures. After that, there is a mix of different dance styles taught including ballet, jazz, and modern. All this is done to fun engaging music. Ratio of 5:1.
- Outdoor Natural Playground & Nature Studies: Kids love our outdoor natural playground. Kids can have fun outside and blow off steam. Our outdoor education activities provide children with the opportunity to explore and learn about the natural world.
Our enrichment activities are designed to complement the Montessori approach to education, promoting independence, exploration & discovery. They allow children to develop new skills and interests, and provide opportunities for social interaction & collaboration. By offering a variety of enrichment activities, we help children develop into well-rounded individuals who are curious, creative, and engaged in their learning.
